IXWater Reclamation is coming to Central California, and it seems not a moment too soon. After 23 years of severe drought, the town of Coalingua, located north of Bakersfield, will run out of water in early December. City officials originally calculated that Coalingua would no longer have water available by mid-September, but the Bureau of Reclamation was able to provide enough to cover their health and safety concerns. It is not nearly enough to keep the town’s farms producing.
Water for the town is provided by an aqueduct, which is at its lowest volume in 27 years. It is only 10% full. Lack of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains and significantly reduced rainfall have created a dire situation in California, where much of the United States’ fruits and vegetables are grown.
Water reclamation will help keep farms producing, trees growing, and land living throughout the Central Valley. Learn more at IXWater.com
